What type of sewing machine is best for me?
We do not know which sewing machine is the best for you. The only way you can know is by being educated as to your choices and knowing your personal needs.
Below are the three main types of sewing machines.
Mechanical sewing machines:
These are simple machines based on the same technology as "old-fashioned" models. They tend to be excellent with regard to reliability and simplicity. All stitches are designed manually by the user.
Electronic sewing machines:
These machines are similar to mechanical machines but offer more features. With many of these machines you are able to create decorative stitches. Many of these sewing machines also offer buttonhole features and some sort of automatic tensioning system.
Computerized sewing machines:
These sewing machines are of the latest technology. They give the user the ability to be extremely creative with incredible accuracy. The user is able to choose from a very large amount of designs and stitch patterns. Some computerized models have the ability to be connected to a home computer. The user is able to design on their computer and execute the plan on fabric with accuracy. If you have a Macintosh computer there is only one manufacturer that support the Mac format - Pfaff. Because of the computer interface and memory cards these sewing machines are the most flexible of the three types.
